4D Launches Wakanda Public Beta

4D today announced Wakanda public beta, a free open source Rapid Application Development platform (RAD) to create business applications for the Web and mobile platforms all in HTML5 and JavaScript. Wakanda is a powerful development technology for building data centric business Internet applications. It increases developer productivity, integrates with complex enterprise environments and delivers rich and interactive experiences for users.

“With the Wakanda development platform, developers can now utilize greater technology stack integration with fully integrated framework, datastore and server.” Said Laurent Ribardiere, Wakanda creator and CTO at 4D. “Developers no longer need to pick and glue separate pieces unike for a PHP/MySQL/Apache solution.”

Wakanda Public Beta now available

The latest version of Wakanda – 4D's free, open-source development platform for creating Web and mobile business applications – is available for all to download as a beta.

Those interested in Wakanda may now begin to fully test the platform, as this beta is feature frozen and close to what will be the production version, slated for release in early 2012. Developers are invited to begin creating projects and reporting any problems or concerns to the Wakanda team to ensure a high-quality product upon its official release.

4D v12.3 Hotfix 2 is now available

The second Hotfix release for 4D v12.3 is now available to 4D Partners.

4D v12.3 Hotfix 2, like Hotfix 1, addresses a number of issues in 4D and 4D Server, as well as two bugs each in 4D View and 4D Write.

Hotfix 2 was released less than 24 hours after Hotfix 1, due to an issue wherein Hotfix 1 would fail to launch on machines running Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Hotfix 2 takes care of this problem.
