4D v11 SQL users: Savings in September

As announced upon the release of 4D v11 SQL Release 9 (11.9), the product is entering the "Sunset" phase of its lifecycle. While 4D v11 SQL will continue to be sold and supported as per the dates specified in the 4D product lifecycle, there are pricing changes that will take effect as of 30 September 2011.

Bearing this in mind, we advise customers with solutions deployed under 4D v11 SQL to purchase any licenses you anticipate needing before the end of September to take advantage of current pricing on the product line.

Visit the 4D Store to review and update your licenses before pricing changes go into effect on 30 September!

4D v12 apps on the Mac App Store

NOTE: Due to numerous unannounced changes in Apple's submission policies, 4D can no longer support submissions of 4D applications to the Mac App Store. While you are welcome to submit your own 4D-created applications to the Store, 4D cannot provide support for the submission process. Invalidated links in the post below are now inaccessible.

In January, Apple launched the Mac App Store and application submissions have since been rolling in.

To aid you in getting your 4D-based applications into the store, we’ve provided a section on the web site to describe the benefits of this new method of distribution. We’ve also provided a FAQ, an instructive document, as well as an open source plug-infor your app to take advantage of Apple’s authorization scheme.

For the time being, the submission of 4D applications to the Mac App Store is limited to 4D Partners, as only applications created with 4D v12.2 (Hotfix 2) are valid for submission to the Mac App Store. This version – like other Hotfixes – is available exclusively to members of the 4D Partner program.

Wakanda is here!

As of today, we're introducing our baby to the public in the form of a Developer Preview release. Anyone who wants to can try Wakanda out and see what we've been putting together. Starting now, you may download Wakanda Developer Preview at wakanda.org and start playing with what will become a whole new platform for developing business web applications with JavaScript.

Naturally, Wakanda's not yet in its final form, and is still taking its baby steps. So we ask you to be gentle and not throw it into the workforce right away! But this is the time to be critical, pick out the faults, and make any suggestions for its future growth. You can do this by reporting any bugs you find at the Wakanda forum, where a bug tracking system is in place.

4D Summit Registration is Open!

Early Bird savings for 4D Summit registration are available starting today. This year, discounts are also offered for our unmissable Pre-class with Thomas Maul, Sergiy Temnikov and Josh Fletcher.

Wakanda.org is in motion

Those familiar with 4D's Wakanda project know that it's a new open source platform for building business web applications with JavaScript.  Its first public Developer Preview release is just around the corner, and to get things rolling, the team has started putting new content on the Wakanda web site.

Starting today, the site is releasing video content that will give teasing glimpses of Wakanda and what it can do. Interested parties are encouraged to visit every day for more new content leading up to the availability of the download.

Wakanda will be hatching any moment now. Visit wakanda.org to see what's new!
