Getting There

San Jose's Norman Y. Mineta International Airport (SJC) is only moments away from the conference location, and provides connections from around North America, while Oakland International Airport (OAK) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) are conveniently up highways 880 and 101, respectively.

The conference is also within easy access of CalTrain rail services along the Peninsula and VTA light rail serving the Santa Clara Valley.

The Fairmont San Jose provides detailed transportation and driving directions on its Web site.

About San Jose, California

San Jose is the tenth largest city in the US – bigger than its more famous neighbor just to the north, San Francisco. In sharp contrast to its agrarian roots (orchards and fields can still be found in pockets of the surrounding areas), San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley became the epicenter of the high tech explosion in the 1980s and the Internet boom of the 1990s that continues today.

Part of the San Francisco Bay Area with the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada mountains nearby, San Jose enjoys a mild subtropical climate conducive to plenty of outdoor activity and sightseeing. Visitors can enjoy outings to historic sites, high-tech spectacles, and world class dining and shopping, all within easy reach of the hotel. Surrounding towns like Cupertino, Mountain View and Palo Alto will surely draw pilgrimages from tech enthusiasts, while nearby San Francisco and Oakland are perennial favorites for nights out or activities along the Bay.

Unlike foggy San Francisco or smoggy Los Angeles, San Jose is famed for its continuous sunshine and moderate temperatures. The month of October enjoys mild temperatures and very low precipitation.
