About Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada, flanked by the Mojave Desert to the west and Lake Mead to the east. Established in the 20th century, Las Vegas is a young city, built up around the construction of Hoover Dam, legalized gambling, and a thriving tourist and convention industry that has led to the construction of some of the world's biggest and most lavish resorts. Its draw as a vacation and event destination has attracted a competitive offering of spectacles and attractions, making it a must for world-renowned entertainers, moguls and chefs to establish an outpost. In short, there is no shortage of things to do in Las Vegas.

There are also outdoor activities at nearby Lake Mead and Red Rock Canyon, ensuring that you can take advantage of the area's sunny weather and get outdoors for a while. Further afield are the Grand Canyon (Arizona), Death Valley (California) and Zion National Park (Utah) for those who'd like to take a scenic road trip before or after the event.

While Las Vegas is fully in the desert, temperatures are milder in autumn. The month of October enjoys warm temperatures (while much cooler at night) and very low precipitation.
