4D FOR FLEX
Now coupling these interfaces to data has become much easier.
Flex developers can say goodbye to complex, three-tier solutions. 4D developers can say hello to gorgeous Rich Internet clients for their applications.
4D for Flex is the first commercially available way to connect a Flex application to a SQL database – namely, 4D v11 SQL. By virtue of 4D for Flex, compact data is transferred in a binary format between Flex and the 4D back-end directly – with no middleman.
With the infrastructure and pipeline taken care of, you can focus on delivering business solutions to the client. And because the client can be anywhere Adobe Flash is available, you'll be delivering those solutions pretty much everywhere.
What's New in 4D for Flex 1.1?
With the arrival of 4D Web 2.0 Pack Release 5 comes 4D for Flex 1.1.
New security enhancements ensure developers that client/server data is secure. Whereas the first version of 4D for Flex used simple authentication via the SQL protocol, 4D for Flex 1.1 brings with it the use of the secure HTTPS protocol via SSL, greatly increasing security.
Click here to watch a brief video from 4D Summit 2009, where Christophe Keromen, Senior Product Manager at 4D SAS, explains the new authentication procedures in 4D for Flex.
What's Included?
- A component library allowing Flex applications to make direct SQL requests to 4D
- An object library featuring elegant data objects to use in Flex, like data grids, calendars, buttons and more
What's required?
4D for Flex has a no-hassle license and can be freely plugged to your Adobe Flex Builder environment. On the server side, you'll need the SQL Server feature activated within your 4D application in order to connect to the database. Check the 4D v11 SQL deployment comparison table in order to see which offer best fits your needs.
