A major work of the 4D documentation, the “Design Reference” manual is now available in dynamic HTML format in the 4D Doc Center. Completely revised and updated for version 12.1, this manual describes the entire 4D design environment, from the Structure editor to the Application builder, including every major element such as the Form editor and the Maintenance and Security Center.

This manual now enjoys all the benefits of 4D Doc Center interactivity including advanced features like associating custom key words with topics. Also, searches throughout the 4D documentation will be enhanced by including results from this manual. For example, searching for the word “menu” will now return articles describing the Menu editor in the Design environment in addition to commands from the Menu theme of the Language Reference manual.

The documentation got a little ahead of itself: in the 4D addendum v12.1, we announced a reorganization of 4D HTML tags, with the arrival of the 4D TEXT and 4DHTML tags (see section Renaming 4D HTML tags).

4D has announced the availability of 4D v12.1. This update to the 4D v12 product line brings with it a number of fixes related to stability and memory management, as well as several new features – most notably 4D v12 Server 64-bit for Windows.

4D is pleased to announce the availability of 4D v11 SQL Release 8 Hotfix 1.

Whew! We made it to the end of Summit week in Southern California. The learning was great, as was the networking, reuniting of old friends and even the San Diego cuisine.

Yesterday was a day full of exciting demos that the Summit team was eager to present.

Preparation for the 4D Summit involves assembling many important pieces.  From picking out critical features to show off, to pleasantly surprising the attendees as the day moves along, getting it all together is no easy task.
