In 4th Dimension's application generation dialog, you have an option that allows you to merge your compiled database with a 4D Runtime Volume License and create a standalone, executable application. These applications can then be distributed to your clients.

4D Runtime Volume License is available under three different licenses to best fit your needs. In all cases, you'll need a 4th Dimension Developer Edition license for each platform you target for delivering your executables

• Can only open databases in read-only mode, but no no limit regarding the number of records in the database
• Very well adapted to distribute demos of your applications, non-modifiable catalogs of products, encyclopedias,  etc. on formats like CD- and DVD-ROM.
• No access to productivity plug-ins, except in demo mode.

Migrating to 4D v11 SQL

As 4D Runtime Volume License Sponsored's feature is now integrated in the 4D Developer Professional offer under the name of 4D Unlimited Desktop, there is no need to migrate or purchase this license in 4D v11 SQL. Similarly, 4D Runtime Volume License Light is no longer necessary in 4D v11 SQL.
